A Man Who Has Nothing In Particular To Recommend Him Discusses All Sorts of Subjects at Random as Though He Knew Everything

N’Awlins, Y’all

That’s Tuba Skinny getting it done curbside. Wonderful ambling stray dogs, and a couple dancing down the sidewalk even though they don’t know how. That’s a sure sign you’re getting over.

If you’re not hip to the difference, that’s a cornet, not a trumpet. They’re very similar instruments, but cornets have a much warmer tone. A trumpet is a single diameter tube that ends in a bell. It’s a musical rifle. A cornet is a tube that gets bigger around as it makes its way to its bell. It’s a blunderbuss.

I’d explain the difference between a trombone and household plumbing, but there really isn’t any.

  1. you know, i played the 1/2″ copper line in the high school marching band. the fingering wasn’t as hard as a trombone, but i sure did sweat the joints!

  2. I saw Tuba Skinny live in Houston about a year ago.

All the charm of the musicians and the music, none of the filth and danger of N.O.

Of course, there’s the filth and danger of Houston, but better the Devil you know…
