A Man Who Has Nothing In Particular To Recommend Him Discusses All Sorts of Subjects at Random as Though He Knew Everything

I’ve Never Been Able To Make A Woman Appear On A Piece Of Paper Like That, But I’ve Been Responsible For Making Many Men Appear From Wine Cellars In My Day

  1. "It's very clever. But, is it art?"

Kipling's accuser asks the soul-level question (accusation) that every pencil man faces, daily. Like operating in a living hell, but this one has the protagonist earning his way out by the din of his skill and yet the devil asks for more than that.

What I like about Smith's demo is when he actually get's his fingers in the smudge, not just the stomp and the brush. Also, he starts with the vine, an English specialty, which is absent from many demos you see on line.

OTOH, he avoids chocking up on the tools in the finest academic manner. Can't appreciate that. There is a great young man in Brooklyn who has climbed to the top of the pile, and whose demos on you tube are very fine. He sometimes chokes up on the tools, and this is the secret of why I favor his work, too.

His name is Jon David Kassan.

  2. To a non-artist like me watching somebody draw is like sorcery. Thanks for putting this up.

What I wonder, though, is…..what's that business about "making men appear from wine cellars" all about? I've def got the stupids lately, and that one eludes me altogether.
