What are you going to walk on by today?
There’s all sorts of stuff all around you. Wonderful things. Beautiful things. Interesting things. Why don’t you look at them? What are you paying attention to instead?
What candles are you hiding under your bushel? What face could you show to the world that you’re hiding? Is there some better you, afraid to be thought a square, erecting a mildewed facade to please the worst of the passersby?
Walk on by. Get off my lawn! No reason to be there. Come up on my porch instead.

I love you, man.
In the mid 60s my big sister and her boyfriend took me along (before I was old enough to drive) to see Dionne Warwick perform outdoors at San Diego State – what a remarkable talent and a memorable concert… I hadn't thought of it in years – thanks for reminding me!
For one little moment there, I'm apparently a modest success.
Great song.
Nice shot of the house, too.
Hi Retriever-
I took that picture some years back with one of those early digital cameras you had to shove a floppy disc in. The house was next door to one of the big Newport RI mansions. It was really beautiful against the sky, and one person after another walked past it with their head down, not even noticing it was over the wall, all on the way to the gaudy pile next door.
