A Man Who Has Nothing In Particular To Recommend Him Discusses All Sorts of Subjects at Random as Though He Knew Everything

The City

I don’t go to the city much. I’ve lived in a couple, visited and worked in many.

I had to go to the city last month on a dreary errand. It was just as I remembered it.

  1. Anti terrorist raids in my immediate neighbourhood last night….if I needed any more reasons to get out the city I have them now.

  2. Hope you got the opportunity to take pictures of a couple dozen additional famous people’s houses, so you won’t have to come up with anything for a couple more months.

  3. I hate cities myself, especially the conscpt of being surrounded by thousands, hundreds of thusands or even millions of other people, and yet the seeming solitude that closeness inspires. I feel more alone on a city street in the lunchtime rush than I do in the middle of the woods a mile from the nearest member of my own species.

Is it me who is the oddball, or the millions who live in their simulated solitude?

  4. I think anonymous wants a refund.

The solitary and/or anonymous nature of large crowds is often the essence of their appeal. It is not possible to pass a stranger on the street where I live and not say hello.
