If you haven’t seen it already (and I suspect you may have), try to see “Standing in the Shadows of Motown”, from which this clip is taken. James Jamerson’s playing on the original never fails to astound me. I’ve ridden my bike past the Motown Studio many times.

mister arthur- I must admit I have not seen it. I do not participate in everyday culture like most people do, and am unaware of all sorts of things. It leads me to blurt out things like: “Hey did you guys know you can get a phone without wires you can carry around now?” Things like that. I discover things like my four year old does. New to him.

Standing in the Shadows of Motown is a heartfelt documentary about the Motown house band, the Funk Brothers. The only unfortunate thing is that it was made after the deaths of James Jamerson and Earl Van Dyke
