I'm a latecomer to JC in just these last few years, having missed that particular cultural upheaval, but, wow! Joe Cocker just must have gotten all the girls, his spasmodic stylings notwithstanding.

I loves me some Joe Cocker, but I admit that I am impressed with anyone who can write lyrics containing the word "dawdle."
I saw JS perform that, there. It has not improved with the passage of time.
Leon Russell is looking natty in that JC clip. IIRC, JC did the Mad Dogs etc. tour and netted about $38 bucks after paying for all the extras. Nice, sing your guts out for a couple of months, support a bunch of hangers-on and get squat. Good times…
Joe Cocker rules! I remember years ago on some tv show he sang "Up Where We Belong" live with Jennifer Warne (sp?) – a show stopper. Since then, maybe seeing Prince perform "1999" in a trench coat and g-string and Ricky Martin at the Grammys in the late 1990s came close. Not a big fan of either, but their live performances were absolutely masterful.
John Sebastian has always been a tad saccharine for my tastes, although I do admire his songwriting.
Cocker's definitely one of the greats, and how is it I'm the first one to say I can't see him perform without thinking of Belushi?
