  1. Learned more useful stuff I might actually use from this video than I ever learned from Norm.

By the way, the music. I swear I recognize that exact track.

The pianist is Wanda Landowska, right? Pardon, I mean, "some dead woman."

  2. When I first found you (yes, one of us was lost) I knew you were very good, but you just keep getting better. An adventure. Even better than the bag of new books I receive from the library once a month since you are new nearly every day. And odd that the design and smells of the cottage are old, but the feeling is immediate to futuristic.

  3. One of your best post, I'm taking notes.Mind you it seems I'm either a shop teacher or a little girls….that explains a lot.

  4. Hello everyone- Thanks for reading and commenting.

I'll tell you a secret. These pictures were from Father's Day.

  5. Hi dj- I can't find the info on the Mozart. It's the first CD I ever purchased, IIRC, and the case is dashed difficult to find right now.

  6. What are you doing with the chisel, slicing the paint off? I can see people trying to cut the staples or something and feeling bad about what they do to their chisel doing that.

BTW if you've got any thoughts about pulling a similar stunt but with a cracked outwale on a 30-year-old canoe, you could do one hell of a sequel to this.

    Gorilla Glue, huh?

  7. Hi Anon- I chisel out a dish around the nailhead so I can grab it with a pliers. That didn't work on the front, because the head of the nail sheared off, and the little bugger wouldn't budge, so I split the runner in half with the chisel to expose the tenon like you see in the picture. I never use good chisels to do work like that. Carpenters like me always have cheap chisels around for bashing on things that might have fasteners in them.

I know all about gunnels. They're a lot easier to make than fix, that's fer sure.

Gorilla Glue is polyurethane glue. You dampen one surface, spread the glue on both surfaces, and make the join. The stuff expands as it cures, so it bubbles over the joint and you have to clean it up, but it sticks to most everything.

BTW, I've still never launched that boat.

  8. Thank you for this video, I learned a few things and was greatly entertained along the way.

    Cheers.

  9. A fantastic ad for … your new furniture. If you can do that with an old rocker, we can only imagine what you can do with a new piece you created.

  10. This is so much better than the shows on cable TV where they spend all their time telling you how they feel but never get around to telling you how to actually do something!
