  1. We had a track like this near my house when I was growing up in the 60s. It was quite cool, and I spent a lot of my allowance running my car there.

  2. who didn’t have cox chapparel 2D? with the fuzzy silver pickups! The shoulders and arms were molded into the body, but damn, that head kept flying off no matter how much glue I sniffed, er, applied, to keep it on!

  3. Hi mt si dad- Thanks for reading and commenting.

Hi Ron- I remember that car, although it’s before my time, I think. We had the Aurora slotcars with the rheostat controllers that looked like a little dashboard. You’d turn a little steering wheel to vary the speed. You’d always break the steering wheel off when you got excited, and have to turn the stub with your fingers until the pain got to you. Sublime. I remember the first set came with a white Ford Mustang convertible and a red, splitwindow Corvette.

Awesome fun, and all sorts of steampunk engineering to keep the things going.
