The rain comes again
Trying, as we all do
To get to where it must go
From where it is
It will go back
As we all do
To where we belong
We may linger; we do not stay
It has no malice
Comes quietly
Leaves silently
Wearing away even stone
The leaf catches it
It cannot hold
The turf waits
Only a moment
Unnecessary, but welcome
Aren’t we all?
