More Woodworking Music

My people are Sicilian, so we can’t see anything Venetian without muttering tedeschi under our breath, but isn’t it a grand performance in a grand place?

The Interpreti Veneziani homepage

They’re heavy on Vivaldi, but I think that one in the video is Albinoni. Not sure. Anybody?

( Thanks to fellow thumbsmasher and good music devotee Rob Williams for sending that one along)

  1. I do believe this was a short version of "Couplets de Folies" for viola by Marin Marais, written 1701. There is a 16 minute version on a cd I own by a group named Spectre de la Rose. But what these people just accomplished in about 4 minutes caused my brains to explode. Fantastic!

  2. My God, my God…..

That is the absolute pure quintessence of the stuff itself.

Anybody who thinks "soul" is white kids trying to sound black by moanin da blooz needs to ingest a big steaming bowl of this stuff every morning for a few years.

    Sweet Jesus, that's terrifying.

  3. btw….

"Anonymous" be me, due to a bit of premature entry-lation.

Thank you so, so much for putting this up. I'm filled with this stuff today, and what a thing to find at 7 am.

Yesterday I found a serious pianist, and sang a Bach solo cantata (this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RkJu5fLk_c) for the first time in 10 years, and long after I thought I'd never have another chance. In May of this year I was confirmed as a Catholic.

I'm 66 now; it's never over. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  4. Thanks for the info Mr. Hyland. Now I know what to search for to purchase this extraordinary piece. And after listening to several other versions of it, I concur with your exploding brains comment.

  5. At the risk of hijacking this thread, I also concur with Rod De Witt: discovering a sublime piece of music can be a religious experience for me.

I went to sleep last night filled with this and had to share it with all around me first thing this morning. Still can't get enough…
