A Man Who Has Nothing In Particular To Recommend Him Discusses All Sorts of Subjects at Random as Though He Knew Everything

One Doesn’t Read “The Social Evil And The Social Good.” One Reads Lord Byron

HERE be none of Beauty’s daughters
With a magic like Thee;
And like music on the waters
Is thy sweet voice to me:
When, as if its sound were causing
The charm├ęd ocean’s pausing,
The waves lie still and gleaming,
And the lull’d winds seem dreaming:
And the midnight moon is weaving
Her bright chain o’er the deep,
Whose breast is gently heaving
As an infant’s asleep:
So the spirit bows before thee
To listen and adore thee;
With a full but soft emotion,
Like the swell of Summer’s ocean.

  1. A few days ago, a jerk named Steve Jobs found the time right to "get to know his kids". Since he was too weak to walk, nothing could any longer be more important. How lucky are we, Sipp? Billions of dollars at hand, but he never knew what earthly treasures he had. Our lives may never produce millions, and that's alright, because we have discovered the only precious thing available.

  2. Matt just put into words something very similar to what I was thinking; you Sullivans truly are some of the richest people I know. And your Mrs. is lovely, but of course you don't need me to tell you that.

  3. What a blessing it is to be wide awake to gratitude. May God Almighty take whatsoever it is of our gratitude and make it sufficient unto His praise.

    And thanks for reminding me a visit with Lord Byron is long overdue. And here I was thinking I would just re-read Heinlein's "Time Enough for Love."
