A Man Who Has Nothing In Particular To Recommend Him Discusses All Sorts of Subjects at Random as Though He Knew Everything

Muscles Didn’t Make Jack LaLanne Mighty

Well, one muscle did. It was his big heart that carried him for 96 years. RIP, Jack. I think I’ll tow a freighter with my teeth while swimming handcuffed tomorrow in your honor. After I chip the ice off the river, of course.

Fitness guru Jack LaLanne, 96, dies at California home.

  1. One of the happiest memories I have is working out to Jack LaLanne's show with my mother. I was very young, perhaps not more than 3, but I remember her faithfully working out to it every day. You remember the little square you used to stand on and twist around? She would use that in her workouts. Stirrup pants, little slippers a chair and Jack LaLanne. Every morning. And then to the twister.

  2. My high school friend and I had lunch (at Wendy's!) with Jack LaLanne, oh so many years ago. He was teaching a body-movement class for a theater symposium and she and I had the temerity to invite him to join us for lunch, like silly geese.

He came along and had a baked potato, of course. So gracious and so passionate about healthy habits and all that he states here. His was a single-minded focus on life and happiness.

  3. If "I ate baked potatoes in Wendy's with Jack LaLanne" isn't on your business card, get thee to Kinko's and get new ones.

I'm now cooler than I would be just because I know you.
