A Man Who Has Nothing In Particular To Recommend Him Discusses All Sorts of Subjects at Random as Though He Knew Everything

Whose House? Cinq

This one’s easy. Gloomy old pile.

(Update: Not as easy as I thought, apparently. Here’s a picture of the object of our architectural affection’s birthplace:)

(UpUpdate: Not so easy after all, I guess. Should be. Here’s what it looked like after remodeling:)

  1. Probably dead wrong, because it doesn’t fit well with the others in the series, but my initial reaction to the photo (reinforced by the “Gloomy Old Pile”) was Vincent Price. I now that ain’t it, but teacher always told me to go with my knee-jerk reactions on them multiple-guessy things, so I’m doing it here.

  2. No one’s close yet.

The place was so gloomy the owners remodeled it almost immediately upon its original completion.

  3. The fellow that lived here co-authored one of the most influential documents in history, but was not a writer.

  4. But wait — what about this clue:
    “SippicanCottage said…
The fellow that lived here co-authored one of the most influential documents in history, but was not a writer. 7:33 PM”
I did a quick search of JDR Sr and can’t find him credited with authoring anything. What “influential document” did he co-author ?

  5. Hi Clayton-

JDR had a partner, Henry Flagler, for whom Flagler county in Fla. is named. They sat at a two sided desk and pushed a piece of paper back and forth, adding and revising. It was the format for the modern corporation.
