“Here, honey. Good for what ‘ales’ you.”
Where do you get these old timey photos?
Are you old enough to remember when beer came in steel cans that needed an opener to pinch a triangular opening in to drink them? I am.
I’m told that before WW2, no-one drank beer. It was all ale and hard liquor. All the GIs got cigarettes and cans of sudsy pilsner beer in the army, and the habit stuck.
The photo is in the library of congress. That baby is seventy years old now, probably.
Sip: I’m only old enough to remember beer and pop with pull tabs. The triangular opening was used only for Hawaiian Punch in my memory.
Camel cigarettes were even part of the K-rats.
Yeah, the cans in that picture aren’t even aluminum; they’re real steel.
We used to make daisy chains of the aforementioned pull tabs and string them around our various bachelor pads and dorm rooms back in the seventies.
